Little Nippers (Tuesday mornings – term time only)

Don't get crabby, come to little nippers at The Deep! Join us on Tuesday mornings 9:30am-11:00am for our fun-filled discovery and play sessions for children aged 2 and under. Enjoy sing-a-long and story time in the soft play area along with a light snack. Adults pay £13.50 for 12 months entry* Plus £1 per session for your little nipper! This includes all visits to the aquarium too! No need to pre-book simply turn up on the day! *With The Deep’s Day Plus Pass scheme – See website for details

The Deep 1 to 1 Experience is a morning with a difference for those with a love of the marine world. Get hands on and help The Deep crew with a series of day to day activities as well as seeing behind the scenes. Experience days are ideal for youngsters with a passion for the marine world or those looking at getting into a Marine Biology career, but are also perfect for adults with an interest in aquaria. Venom vs poisons!

Was snow white’s apple venomous or poisonous? Did Dory get bitten or stung?

Delve into the lives of toxic creatures at The Deep this October half term (20 October to 4 November) and find out which animals use venom and which use poison.

Join us for the fun-packed interactive show at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and discover how our animals use their amazing abilities to survive.

Don’t forget to head on down to the Learning Centre to make your own sticky slime to take home too for just £1.

Junior Experience Days



Is your child aged between 8-11 with a passion for marine animals?

Then join us for a fun-filled experience day where your youngster can help carry out some of The Deep’s daily activities.
Your child will be part of a group of up to 8 children, who will spend the morning with a member of The Deep’s crew, allowing them to get hands on within the attraction.



Activities will include:
• Seeing behind the scenes of our river turtle display and Discovery Corner plant room
• Taking part in a nori feed at the Lagoon
• Cleaning the exhibit acrylic
• Taking part in a slime workshop and touch pool session
• Invertebrate handling
• Question time with a guide
• Trying on a dive kit and watching the dive show

Experiences start at 8:30am and finish at 2:30pm.
Spaces are limited. Please note: adults are not required to accompany children on the day.

Tranquil Tuesdays
(1st Tuesday of the month, term time only)

Join us on the first Tuesday of each month (TERM TIME ONLY) for Tranquil Tuesdays. From 3pm until closing the lights will be brighter and the audio turned down, creating a tranquil environment for our visitors. This event is perfect for those who prefer to visit during a quieter and more peaceful environment. Everyone is welcome to attend. Normal admission rates apply and there is no need to book. We have a range of aids available to hire free of charge for visitors with access needs including ear defenders, Braille guides, large print guides, MP3 audio guides, international language leaflets, rollators, electric mobility scooters and wheelchairs.

Hulls award winning aquarium, The Deep is home to over 3,500 fish including Green sawfish, sharks, rays, turtles and a colony of Gentoo penguins! Travel through the story of the world’s oceans from warm tropical lagoons to the icy cold Antarctic seas. Enjoy the fun and educational interactive and audio-visual presentations which make it a fun filled family day out for all ages.

Visit the tropical Lagoon of Light following a huge £500,000 makeover. The display is now complete with colourful new corals, large mangrove trees and filled with stunning tropical fish (including some brand new species). Visitors can also see our very own juvenile Zebra sharks that were born and bred at The Deep.
Make sure to stop by Dylan’s Discovery Corner next to the Lagoon to learn about some of the smaller native species to the UK shores. Join in a touchpool session, happening every half past the hour from 10.30-4.30, and get hands on with Starfish, Velvet swimmer crabs and Sea urchins.

Stop by the magnificent Endless Ocean exhibit where 2.5 million litres of water and 87 tonnes of salt make this home to an array of stunning species. Here you can meet our newest residents, Sensa and Mabouche, the Loggerhead sea turtles, and see them exploring their new habitat.
Catch the daily dive show at 2pm in Endless Oceans on Monday to Friday (feed dive Mon/Wed/Fri, maintenance dive Tue/Thu), Lagoon of Light on Saturday and Amazon Flooded Forest on Sunday.

Visitors can see the superb Amazon Flooded Forest tank which is home to some striking species including Red tailed catfish, Ripsaw catfish, Motoro stingray, Tiger shovelnose catfish and Pacu. Many of the animals you will see in here have been rescued from unsuitable homes as part of the Big Fish Campaign.

During the school holidays you can stop by Craft Corner where you can enjoy arts and crafts and face painting. It’s sure to keep children of all ages entertained! Experience life in the cool seas, see creatures from our coastal waters and discover mysteries of deep-water dwellers, and learn about the diversity of life living in cold water.

Visit the Kingdom of Ice and our playful colony of Gentoo penguins. See them swim and frolic on the ice a, watch them being fed at 11:30am and 3:30pm. Here you can also learn about the threats to their habitat, issues surrounding climate change and ocean acidification as well as animal biology and food chains.

Descend in to Deep Blue 1 - Living Rivers, learn about five of the world’s major river systems; the Amazon, the Mekong, the Betsiboka, the Rio Grande and the Congo. Home to fascinating species including Red-bellied piranhas, Blue poison arrow frog, Emerald tree boa, African butterfly fish and Axolotl’s.

Finally walk through our amazing glass tunnel and take in the stunning marine life swimming all around you, before taking a ride in our glass lift through the 10m Endless Oceans exhibit. Keep your eyes peeled for a sneak peek behind the scenes!
