Runswick Bay

With its picture postcard scenery and gorgeous hillside location, Runswick Bay is a true gem on the Yorkshire coastline, loved for years by both holidaymakers and artists. Situated just north of Whitby, Runswick Bay is a picturesque landscape of red-roofed cottages, scattered down the hillside and sheltered from the northern gales by the ’Lingrow Knowle’ lofty crag above. Below these charming cottages lays the soft, sandy beach - buckets and spades at the ready as this is one of the safest beaches in the area for children. The beach can be accessed via a very steep road down to the bay, with car parking available at the bottom. In the village you will find tea rooms serving homemade cakes and a pub serving home cooked food and welcoming drinks. Runswick Bay is just off the A174, 9 miles northwest of Whitby.
